What to Wear

Learn “What to Wear” to our dance classes to take the focus away from fashion and place it on learning dance technique and form by following our guidelines.

Mini Ballerina Ballet

Ages 3 – 4

  • Pink Leotard (no attached skirt)
  • Pink Ballerina Tutu (must be purchased from school office – Note: these are different from year end costumes)
  • Light pink tights
  • Leather ballet slippers in pink

Tiny Tots

Ages 4 – 6

  • Pink Leotard (no attached skirt)
  • Light pink tights
  • Ballet shoes- pink leather
  • Tap shoes – Black patent leather
  • Boys wear white T-shirt(not baggy), black jazz pants and black ballet shoes and black oxford tap shoes

Ballet

Ages 7 and older

  • Leotard – any style, color by level (see below)
  • Levels:  I – Light pink;  II – Light Blue; III – Orchid or Lavender; IV – Navy Blue, V – Burgundy or Maroon; VI & VII – Purple or Black; Adults – Black
  • Ballet shoes – pink leather, solid leather sole
  • ballet pink tights (light pink)
  • Boys wear white T-shirt (not baggy), black jazz pants and black leather ballet shoes

Jazz | Hip Hop | Tap Class

Ages 7 – 12

  • Leotard – Any style, recommended black
  • Tights – black or suntan
  • Black ballets or jazz oxfords (slip on style)
  • Tap shoes – black patent leather (required) No oxford style
  • Boys wear solid color T-Shirt, black jazz or sweat pants,
  • Boys black tap oxfords and black jazz slip on jazz shoes

Jazz | Lyrical | Contemporary

Ages 10 and older

  • Leotard – Any style or color
  • Tights/Leggings (fitted) – black or suntan
  • Black fitted dance shorts or capris are optional
  • Black or tan jazz oxfords (slip on style)
  • Boys – wear jazz pants or workout pants (dark solid color)
  • Boys – T-shirt – solid color not too baggy

Tap

Ages 10 and older

  • Leotard – Any color or style
  • Tights/Leggings (fitted) – black or suntan
  • Black fitted dance shorts or capris are optional
  • Tap shoes – Level – I to IV black patent leather; Level – A,B,C – Black oxford – No slip on styles. ( Best to order oxford style once feet have stopped growing, since they cost more.)
  • Boys – wear jazz pants or workout pants – (dark solid color)
  • Boys – T-shirt – solid color not too baggy

Hip Hop

Ages 10 and older

  • Leotard and/or T-Shirt (no sequins or rhinestones allowed)
  • Black jazz pants, capris or sweats (no buckles on pants)
  • Black jazz shoes or dance sneakers (black sole ONLY and cannot be worn outdoors) shoes must only be worn on our dance floor – never outdoors
  • Boys – Black workout pants, T-shirt and sneakers (black sole only and cannot be worn outdoors) shoes must only be worn on our dance floor – never outdoors

Acrobatics

All ages

  • Leotard – Any style or color
  • Footless Tights/Leggings (fitted) – any color
  • Black fitted dance shorts or capris are optional
  • Bare feet
